Instinct-Informed Integrative Therapy (IIT): A Novel Framework for Mental Health Treatment

Instinct-Informed Integrative Therapy (IIT) is presented as an innovative therapeutic model designed to address key limitations in current mental health treatment approaches. This section explores the theoretical foundations of IIT, which draw from evolutionary psychology, neuroscience, and integrative psychotherapy. A central focus of the model is on understanding and responding to instinctual drives and primal human needs that shape emotional and behavioral patterns.
Purpose: Often undertreated in rural regions due to low resources, stigma, and geographical limitations, depression is a common mental health problem that affects many people (CCRP, 2023). This research intends to investigate the effectiveness of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a treatment method for depression in a rural primary healthcare facility. With an eye on CBT, this project aims to improve therapy engagement and results for rural people.
